Port Adelaide may load up its defence for Showdown XXVII with Troy Chaplin revealing he and Chad Cornes could work together to thwart Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.
Chaplin returns to the side after serving a two-match suspension and was expected to relieve Cornes of his defensive duties by lining up at centre-half back.
But the 23-year-old said Cornes could prove a handy ally during the Round 17 clash.
"The way he reads the ball is fantastic and it's only going to help myself, 'Bobby' Carlile, Toby (Thurstans) - with him back there he's got great leadership as well," Chaplin said.
"Having him there as well it makes you almost run off and really attack because that's the way he plays and it's almost infectious."
"I'd probably have to take Chad's man and let him play free."
But Chaplin said his own probable return to the squad gave the Power more flexibility.
"The best thing about Chad is if I come back into the team it can release him into the midfield, he can play up forward, he can play loose in defence," he said.
Chaplin's two-match suspension was for charging Brisbane's Daniel Rich, but the defender has no regrets about his actions and said his fortnight on the sidelines won't change his game.
"I think if I was in the same situation I'd do exactly the same thing, I was going for the ball. I've had my two weeks off and I'm raring to get back out there and get amongst it again because I hate watching footy," he said.
Meanwhile Chaplin believes the Power's ruck duo - Brendon Lade and Dean Brogan - and the team's desire to pressure the ball carrier could give them the edge on Sunday.
"The amount of pressure that St Kilda put on Adelaide on the weekend was really noticeable and that's what we've got to bring to the game and I thought we did that on the weekend and so we've got to back it up this week," he said.
"Our ruckmen are very experienced, they can change a game, if they start to get on top obviously they (the Crows) are going to have to change their structure and Kurt (Tippett) will have to come up and start to ruck."
