Power swing the axe

Power swing the axe

31/07/2009 5:52 PM

Port Adelaide has rung the changes for Sunday's clash with Hawthorn at AAMI Stadium, which could prove to be a mini elimination final.

The Power selectors have settled on five changes, bringing in Dean Brogan, Hamish Hartlett, Tom Logan, Nick Salter and Matt Thomas for Brett Ebert, Steven Salopek, Matthew Broadbent, Nick Lower and Paul Stewart - all of whom have been omitted.

Broadbent, Lower and Stewart are the Port Adelaide emergencies.

The Hawks in contrast have taken a much more conservative approach, restricting themselves to just the one change - Brendan Whitecross in for Beau Dowler.

Colin Sylvia and Shane Tuck have been unable to force their way into struggling line-ups for Sunday's early clash between Melbourne and Richmond at the MCG.

Available after serving a three-match suspension, Sylvia was named as an emergency for the Demons with Jake Spencer and Simon Buckley.

James Frawley, Jack Grimes and Neville Jetta are the Demons' inclusions for injured trio Liam Jurrah, Jordie McKenzie and Brent Moloney.

Tuck, dropped to the VFL last week despite leading the AFL for hard-ball gets for the 2009 season up to Round 16, was also named as an emergency.

Kelvin Moore replaces Jarrod Silvester in the only change for the Tigers.

The Eagles have made two changes for their encounter with Essendon at Subiaco on Sunday.

Ben McKinley and first-gamer Callum Wilson are the ins for Ashley Hansen and Mark Seaby, both dropped.

There are four changes for the Bombers - Sam Lonergan, Heath Hocking, Jay Neagle and Hayden Skipworth replace injured quartet Matthew Lloyd, Mark McVeigh, Jason Winderlich and Alwyn Davey.
