Melbourne has surprised nobody by picking Victorian Tom Scully as its No.1 pick in the 2009 National Draft, while South Australian Jack Trengove is also headed to the Junction Oval as pick two.
Scully, from the Dandenong Stingrays, was rated as the best draft prospect for much of the year, and Melbourne snapped him up along with the highly-rated Trengove, who captained South Australia in this year's national under 18 championships
Richmond selected Dustin Martin, from the Bendigo Pioneers as the third pick, while Fremantle went local with its first pick, snapping up Anthony Morabito from Peel Thunder.
North Melbourne opted for Ben Cunnington from Geelong Falcons with pick five, Sydney picked up another Falcons player while West Coast went down the predictable path, selecting talented East Fremantle youngster Brad Sheppard at pick seven.
Port Adelaide picked up Gippsland's John Butcher with pick eight and Eastern Ranges' Andrew Moore with pick nine.
The top ten was completed with Essendon selecting Jake Melksham from the Calder Cannons.
