Port Adelaide and Mark Williams have begun their long-awaited contract negotiations and hope to strike a deal by the end of July.
In a big week down at Alberton, a relieved Williams was offered another two years at the helm after the Power board deliberated his future during a marathon nine-hour meeting on Monday.
Since then Williams' manager Ricky Nixon has been talking finances with Port.
Williams is pleased the process has begun but admits his new deal won't be as lucrative as ones struck in the past.
"The ball is rolling and Ricky is working with that so we'll see the outcome, hopefully it's in the next two or three weeks," Williams said.
"All I can say to our supporters is I'm doing everything possible and I would expect to come out with what the AFL would claim is a very standard or medium contract."
"From all reports I'm paid towards the top, I'm saying I'll be paid in the middle."
Williams said the uncertainty over his future had been distracting for both him and his players but didn't think the resolution would affect his performance on match day.
"I wouldn't like to think so ... coaching is what I do when the pressure is on or not, whether it's a big game or a lesser game so hopefully we keep coaching the same way and get a better result," he said.
Meanwhile doubt remains whether Robbie Gray will retain his place in the squad with the youngster struggling with a bruised knee.
"Honestly, I was shaking my head, I'm not exactly sure how he is, so I rely on the fitness blokes and the doctors to determine that," Williams said.
"He's been outstanding in terms of getting up and ready to play. Unfortunately he plays a crash and bash (game) and goes where not many people do and gets run into a lot."
"Each week it's a different problem, it's not exactly about his body it's about particular little spots that pop up with collisions."
Chad Cornes has also been suffering a knee injury but trained well at AAMI Stadium on Friday.
"He's actually ready to play so maybe we will slot him in tomorrow," Williams said with tongue in cheek.
