Bogut's solution for the NBL

Melbourne-born NBA star Andrew Bogut thinks he knows the way the NBL can thrive in the next decade.
The NBL is currently undergoing a transition period in Australia, with foundation club Brisbane Bullets on the brink of extinction and the Sydney Kings already extinct.
But Bogut believes basketball in Australia can return to its halcyon days of the early 1990s, providing the game's administrators market the game accordingly.
"For the NBL to get back to where it is, it needs to get more involved with the schools and more involved with the kids," Bogut said.
"They don't have that touch and feel with the players in the NBL and I think if they can get that back it will be fine."
"Basketball is one of the highest participation sports at a junior level in Australia so something is going wrong if those kids aren't getting into the NBL."
While some NBL clubs are struggling to survive, Bogut is coming off his best ever season in the NBA after averaging 14.3 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Bogut is about to enter the final year of his rookie contract with the Bucks, but the 23-year-old is hopeful of signing an extension to his current deal next month.
"I can't discuss anything with the team until July 1," he said.
"It is frustrating for me but it is the NBA rules and league wide."
"It is like buying a car, it will take eight or nine days. You get a first offer a second offer and then a third offer and hopefully something will be done by about July 10. If we don't, it will be done next year."
