Peter Crouch appeared as a second-half substitute as Portsmouth came from behind to win its friendly at Swindon 3-1.
Crouch, who rejoined the club in an 11-million-pound ($AU 22,650,745) move from Liverpool last week, entered the fray with his side already 2-1 up and saw Danijel Subotic wrap up the win.
Swindon had taken a deserved early lead from the penalty spot, Simon Cox on target after being felled by Noe Pamarot.
Hermann Hreidarsson equalised for the FA Cup winners with Jermain Defoe putting them ahead with a penalty after a foul on trialist OJ Korma.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough opened its pre-season campaign with a last-gasp 2-2 draw at Blue Square Premier side York.
David Wheater hit a late equaliser after Onome Sodje thought he had won it for the non-Leaguers three minutes from time at KitKat Crescent.
Boro had opened the scoring early in the second half when Jonathan Franks turned in a Stewart Downing cross but highly-rated youngster Adam Boyes levelled.
