Kimlin to tackle French champs

31/07/2009 11:53 AM

The Brumbies have named Wallabies lock Peter Kimlin to make his debut for the ACT club against French Top 14 champion USA Perpignan on Saturday morning (AEST).

Kimlin was unavailable for the first two fixtures of the four-match French tour after sustaining a strain in his left quadriceps during Wallabies training.

He is one of four Test representatives in the side along with captain Stephen Hoiles, scrumhalf Josh Valentine and prop Guy Shepherdson, who will start off the bench.

Christian Lealiifano will wear the No.10 jersey after an accomplished performance in the playmaker's role in the side's 37-21 loss to Bayonne on Wednesday. Winger Alfi Mafi, who has also been impressive during the tour, will join Francis Fainifo and fullback Pat McCabe in the side's back three.

Kimlin will join Ben Hand at lock while Hoiles will link up with Henry Vanderglas and 18-year-old openside flanker Colby Faingaa in the back row.

Australia A props Jerry Yanuyanutawa and Salesi Ma'afu will pack down with Australian Under-20s hooker Nathan Charles in the front row.

Both Sitaleki Timani (shoulder) and Nic White (cork) have recovered from injuries sustained against Bayonne and will take their places on the bench. White will start on the reserves list alongside fellow Australian Under-20 representatives Matt Toomua, Robbie Coleman and Afusipa Taumoepeau.

Brumbies team:

Jerry Yanuyanutawa. Nathan Charles. Salesi Ma'afu. Ben Hand, Peter Kimlin, Henry Vanderglas, Colby Faingaa, Stephen Hoiles, Josh Valentine, Christian Lealiifano, Francis Fainifo, Tyrone Smith, Andrew Smith, Alfi Mafi, Pat McCabe
