Adcock evades surgery

The Brisbane Lions have received a huge boost following confirmation that club vice-captain Jed Adcock has not ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The Lions had all but conceded that Adcock would require a full reconstruction that would keep him sidelined for up to 12 months after his knee twisted and buckled in a tackle laid by Geelong's Paul Chapman in the opening minutes of last Saturday night's clash at the Gabba.
Scans have revealed however that Adcock has suffered nothing more than a tibial plateau fracture which will not require surgery.
Adcock's expected to be sidelined for 10-12 weeks which will give him only an outside chance of being available for the finals should the Lions penetrate deep into September.
The 23-year-old had been in excellent form in 2009, averaging 21 disposals and four tackles per match before last Saturday playing down back or as a defensive midfielder.
