Gary Ablett a virtual certainty, Paul Chapman likely and Harry Taylor and Joel Corey in doubt but far from ruled out.
That was the word on Geelong's injured stars on Thursday ahead of the first of two successive trips to Perth to face West Coast at Subiaco on Sunday.
Ablett and Taylor are both battling ankle soreness while Corey ended a streak of 94 consecutive matches last week when he was a late withdrawal from the win over Essendon due to foot soreness.
And star forward Chapman has missed one match after suffering a compound fracture of his finger against the Western Bulldogs in Round 9.
Thompson said of the four, Ablett was the one most likely to make the trip west with the Cats' superstar appearing to move freely at training on Thursday.
"With Gary we are pretty sure he will be right, he is 95 percent to play," Thompson said.
"He ran last night and while did roll it (last week) and there was a little bit of swelling, structurally it is fine and that is why we are confident he will play."
Thompson said Chapman will only have to feel comfortable marking the ball in order to take his place in the side.
"We will find out a bit tonight at training with the wet balls and see if he gets through but he is keen to play," Thompson said.
"He needs to be able to catch the ball but he has been given approval to play so as long as he is happy to play, he will be right."
But Thompson was less confident on Taylor and Corey lining up.
"They are not certain to play and they have got to tick a few boxes before they are cleared to play so they are in doubt," he said.
Thompson said the fact the Cats have a week's break after the West Coast game would not influence their selection decisions this week in regards to their injured players.
"We want our players to be 100 percent ready every game so the break doesn't come into it," he said.
The Cats scored a stunning 135-point win over West Coast the last time they faced the Eagles in Perth but Thompson is expecting a much closer contest this time despite the Cats having won 52 of their past 55 matches while the Eagles are struggling with just three wins from 10 games this season.
"We had a good night (against West Coast last time)
