Power veterans Chad Cornes and Michael Wilson are up for selection this week but won't be picked prematurely because of Shaun Burgoyne's suspension.
Cornes is recovering from a broken hand and has been cleared to play by a surgeon while Wilson made it through his comeback game for the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL.
Williams said Cornes was more than a 50 per cent chance of playing although won't be included if he's not ready.
"We can't put Chad or his well-being in jeopardy just because of the result of Shaun and that goes for Michael as well," he said.
"His (Wilson's) legs were a bit sore afterwards but definitely not his Achille's (tendon)."
"When they come back from long-term injuries you've got to look after them and not consider it's just linear, that all of sudden that everything goes well for them."
Williams said he was looking forward to having the duo back at some stage as they bring some hardness to the side.
"Last weekend it would've been a viable alternative to throw those two plus Matt Thomas into the centre square, it would've been a fairly pleasant change for us," he said.
"Anytime we can get them back into it, they are vital players for us."
But Williams said the team could perform without Cornes and Wilson and with Burgoyne on the sidelines.
"It won't ruin our season, obviously we are bigger and better than one particular player," he said.
Burgoyne's suspension has ensured Port Adelaide has been busy this week.
Williams admitted he spent hours analyzing vision of Burgoyne's clash with Hawthorn Sam Mitchell and then fronted the media on Wednesday to air his grievances with the tribunal.
But he said it hadn't stopped him and his players preparing for their clash against the Swans this weekend.
"Don't think we've disregarded Sydney at all and it would be a very big bow to draw that we are not focused fully on this game," he said.
"We are feeling we are not too far away from it."
