Adelaide coach Neil Craig continues to take a diplomatic approach towards his own contractual situation believing the club will make the right decision in the long run.
Craig's current deal ends in 2009 but last month the Crows said 'there is no immediate rush' to strengthen their commitment to the long-serving coach despite the planned entry of the Gold Coast side which will be headhunting experienced and available leaders as it prepares for season 2011.
Craig said he thought a decision on his contract would be made by the end of the year.
"It's up to the club really, but what I can say to you is I'm not sitting here waiting for a phone call from management saying, 'What's going on?'" Craig said.
"If it's me to continue, fantastic, if it's not, that's the way it should be as well."
"I've got a lot of trust in the football club that they will make the best decision for the football club."
Craig said he was more focussed on the current season and getting his team firing after the mid-season break.
This has included sending Andrew McLeod off to the surgeon and giving Simon Goodwin, Nathan van Berlo, Richard Douglas and Scott Stevens some time off this week.
"They have had some niggles, still been able to perform with them but we use this opportunity to get them in the best possible shape we can so we can launch ourselves into at least the last nine games and hopefully more," he said.
"Each year we get better managing our squad in terms of recovery and what individual needs even though we still train very hard."
"Obviously, our draw in the next few weeks in particular with Geelong, Collingwood, Port Adelaide and Sydney, just that block of games we'll find out a lot more."
Meanwhile Trent Hentschel's chances of making an AFL comeback this season are still 'very much alive', according to Craig.
Hentschel hurt his ankle playing for Woodville-West Torrens last weekend.
"It looks like his ankle is not as bad as first thought, he's not going to play this week, hopefully he'll be available in the next week or two," Craig said.
"He was that close to playing AFL footy. It's a setback for him, obviously it is, but ... from a selection point of view he's very much in my thinking."
