Collingwood might be suffering from blockbuster fatigue according to coach Mick Malthouse but the Western Bulldogs can hardly wait to strut their stuff on the big stage this week when they take on the Pies in front of a certain packed house at Telstra Dome on Sunday night.
While playing in front of big crowds and in big matches is part of life for a Collingwood player, the Bulldogs rarely get such an opportunity due to their much lower supporter base and lack of access to key blockbuster games such as Anzac Day, Queens's Birthday and Easter Monday.
However the Bulldogs, who are enjoying their best start to a season ever with ten wins and a draw from 12 games, are fast becoming the AFL's new glamour team after attracting nearly 40,000 to last week's home game against Brisbane - a record crowd for matches between the two clubs.
Now the Dogs can hardly wait to run out in front of what will be a pro-Collingwood crowd (the match is a Magpies' home game) of around 50,000 on Sunday night in a match pitting third against sixth.
"I think us as a club haven't had exposure to those types of games and I think it will be great for us and the players are looking forward to it," Eade said of the daunting atmosphere expected for Sunday's game.
Malthouse might have complained after the narrow Queen's Birthday win over Melbourne that his club was suffering as a result of constantly being involved in big matches - and they went down in another one against Carlton in front of more than 80,000 fans last week - but Eade said the Dogs would love to play on the big stage, such as Friday nights, more often.
"We would love more blockbusters if we could get them, if the AFL would give them to us it would be great," Eade said.
"Our players really look forward to them and you can sense their eagerness to get involved in those sorts of games."
The Bulldogs, who have already beaten fellow top eight contenders Hawthorn, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane (they are yet to play Geelong) this season, will go in warm favourites against Collingwood.
That is not just because of the Dogs' fantastic start to the season but also because Collingwood will be without both its key forwards in the suspended Travis Cloke and the injured Anthony Rocca.
And that could even allow Eade the
