Fev silent on claims

Fevola quiet on sex claims

09/10/2009 8:48 PM

Brendan Fevola has remained tight-lipped at his first media conference as a Brisbane player about sexual harassment allegations levelled against him.

The latest chapter in Fevola's rollercoaster off-field life has arisen following claims that he sexually harassed a female journalist on Brownlow Medal night.

The news has taken the gloss off his new start with the Brisbane Lions after he was traded to the club by Carlton on Friday.

Speaking hours later on the Gold Coast in his new team colours, the former Carlton bad boy expressed his regret over his actions, but when quizzed over the assault claims declined to comment further.

Fevola also admitted that his actions were the sole reason for him leaving Carlton and highlighted that the Blues, after a string of off-field incidents, had no other option but to the let the 28-year-old go.

"The Carlton footy club, obviously, were fed up with everything, and you don't blame them, they had their hands tied, I think we are both pretty sad to see each other go but we come to the Brisbane Lions and it's a fresh start."

"I've left Carlton probably on my own fault, the Carlton footy club has obviously given me a great life and set me up, I've been there for 11 years, I wanted to be a one-club player and play 200 games."

"But through my own fault that’s not going to happen, the footy club stood by me through everything, I owe them a lot, I'm sad that I'm leaving the Carlton footy club"

"I've got to earn a lot of trust especially with Vossy (Brisbane coach Michael Voss), the coaching staff and the players, I'm going into the club as a new recruit, I've just
