Tom Harley has wasted no time in making the transition to life after football with the retired Geelong premiership captain joining the AIS-AFL Academy as an assistant coach and mentor.
The news comes just six weeks after he guided the Cats to their second flag in three years.
Harley will join the likes of Matthew Lloyd, Michael O'Loughlin and Garry Lyon in the AFL's talented player programs.
Harley said he was looking forward to starting his new role.
"After 11 seasons with the Geelong Football Club I feel I have a lot to offer the game's elite young players," he said.
"I am excited about the challenge of working with young players to become better footballers and assisting in their development as leaders off the field."
AFL game development general manager David Matthews was full of praise for the appointment of Harley.
"Throughout his career, Tom has established himself as one of the AFL's most respected players, setting a positive example both on and off the field," Matthews said.
"His leading role in the anti-violence 'Just Think' campaign is testament to his strong character and ability as a positive role model for our emerging talent."
