Jamar, Miller re-sign

Jamar, Miller re-sign

07/10/2009 4:31 PM

Melbourne's Brad Miller and Mark Jamar have signed contract extensions that tie them to the Demons through to the end of next year.

Port Adelaide was understood to be interested in luring Jamar to Alberton to fill the vacancy left by retired ruckman Brendon Lade, but the 26-year-old's new deal would appear to have quashed any prospect of a move to his home town.

Recruited from North Adelaide, Jamar came to Melbourne with the sixth pick overall in the 2001 Rookie Draft.

He's played 73 games since making his debut in the opening round of 2003.

Twenty-six-year-old Miller, the No.55 selection at the 2001 national draft from Mount Gravatt in Queensland, has played 127 games since making his debut in Round 8, 2002.

Melbourne's list manager Tim Harrington said the club is delighted with the contract extensions.

"They are both experienced players at the club, and at 26 years of age we expect them both to play an important role for the team next year," said Harrington.
