Magpie Cox retires from AFL

Collingwood defender Shannon Cox has announced his retirement after just four seasons in the AFL.
The 23-year-old, who spent the majority of his first year with the Magpies on the rookie list, cited a lack of motivation as his reason for calling it quits.
"Shannon returned from the post-season break and decided that he no longer had the desire and hunger to commit to the demands of AFL football," Collingwood football operations manager Geoff Walsh said.
"We fully expected Shannon to be part of our 2010 list however we respect his decision to retire and wish him well."
Cox, originally from South Fremantle, played 25 matches for the Magpies after he was elevated to the senior list late in 2006.
He joins fellow retirees Anthony Rocca and Marty Clarke and delisted quintet Chris Bryan, Danny Stanley, John Bennell, Toby Thoolen and Kevin Dyas as Collingwood's departures in the post-season so far.
