Port Adelaide's milestone player Daniel Motlop has urged some of his team-mates to chase and tackle harder or suffer the consequences.
The 100-game player, who was outspoken about the lack of endeavour immediately after the Power's loss to West Coast last weekend, continued those sentiments at a media conference on Thursday.
"There were some bad efforts I suppose with chasing and tackling and that sort of stuff and we are not going to accept that, if blokes don't do it in our team we'll bring someone else in who will do it," Motlop said.
"If it's bad feedback, and the player takes it on board and does something about it, then we are going to be a better team."
"Next time he does it, and he's on camera, he's going to be chasing harder."
Motlop said Matt Thomas, Nick Lower and Tom Logan came to mind as tough, physical players who were waiting in the wings for a league game.
While best known for his freakish goals and aerial prowess, Motlop said he enjoyed the rewards and recognition that came from doing the 'one percenters'.
"I used to try and do it at North Melbourne but probably wasn't recognised as much as it is here. I suppose when you get recognised for that sort of stuff you want to do it more," he said.
"The big mark in the goal square doesn't get shown on the Monday review; rather the 50m chase from outside 50 to the wing or something. The players respect you for that sort of stuff rather than taking high marks."
And he said every effort counts.
"Forward line players have to chase and put pressure on for the defence I guess and the midfielders," he said.
"It doesn't have to be a tackle, it can be a dive and touch his leg and turnover and we are happy with that so as long as you are trying really, really hard."
Motlop will play his 100th game against 'best mate' Aaron Davey, who is also celebrating the three-figure milestone for Melbourne, at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.
