Adelaide coach Neil Craig has compared Jason Porplyzia to club legend and premiership hero Darren Jarman and admits the forward line at his disposal is the best he's overseen during his five-year reign at AAMI Stadium.
He also feels his team has peaked at the right time of the season.
But while it's all smiles and excitement down at West Lakes, Craig scoffed at claims the Crows' clash against the Bombers on Friday was the 'unlosable' final.
"Unlosable game, I wish that existed," Craig laughed.
"I'd have much greater respect for our playing group, not to get carried away with that. We can't control that (favouritism), obviously we can't control that."
"We've got enough experience now in finals - there is no reason for us to go into the finals series complacent about the competition."
"What we want to do as a group is when we walk off the ground on Friday night is that we've been able to put on a display, the type of football that we've worked on so hard throughout the year."
Adelaide is downplaying its favouritism heading into Friday's clash but there's plenty of evidence to suggest the Crows are in the box seat to progress to the second week of finals.
On Tuesday afternoon Tab Sportsbet has Adelaide at $1.10 to win while Essendon at $6.25. The Bombers have lost key players Matthew Lloyd and Paddy Ryder to suspension and in the past have won just four out of 14 against the Crows at AAMI Stadium.
They are also coming up against an Adelaide forward line which kicked 27.14 against seventh-placed Carlton in Melbourne last week.
The Crows' forward line has a range of dangerous forwards but Porplyzia is the most consistent match winner. Craig said his goal-kicker deserves All-Australian selection.
"Some of the things he can do on the football field are special. In the past we've had in our club Darren Jarman and Jason can do some things Darren used to be able to do," Craig said.
"I don't see Mark (LeCras) every week and I see Jason every week so if they've got a better smaller forward in the AFL than Jason Porplyzia they are going to be a great side."
But while Porplyzia is the danger man, Craig said the team's mix of players in attack made it the best he's worked with.
"The thing I like about it is we've got a nice blend of experience with a Burton type of player and even Chris Knights now is in year four/five at the footy club, he's got some experience underneath him," he said.
"Then you've got the youth of Tippett, Dangerfield, Porplyzia type players, you've got the hunger of a Hentschel, from where he's come from to where he is now, playing in a finals series."
"You've got that sort of mixture in that aspect of it plus you've got a really good mixture of skill sets."
