Port would welcome Didak

Port would welcome Didak

06/08/2008 5:35 PM

Emerging Port Adelaide midfielder Travis Boak believes Alan Didak would be a welcome addition down at Alberton, if he was traded by Collingwood.

Boak said the out-of-favour Magpie would add another dimension to the Power's talented attack.

"He's a quality player and he's had a fantastic year with Collingwood and he'd probably fit nicely in our side," he said.

"Obviously he's an exciting player and with our exciting brand of football he'd be perfect with our team. He's a goal sneak and another great forward who'd probably fit in with Ebo (Brett Ebert) and Mots (Daniel Motlop)."

But Boak said the club would have to assess whether the former Port Magpies player fitted into the team's ‘culture'.

"I'd probably trust the club to make the right decision, they've made some good decisions with players like that before so just wait and see," Boak said.

Meanwhile Boak said he was hopeful Port could cause some problems for Carlton when the two teams clash on Saturday.

"Obviously they are in some good form and want to play finals footy and we want to try and knock them off and try and stop them from getting in the eight," Boak said.

But the 20-year-old said the players wouldn't be reflecting on the teams' last clash, when the Blues trailed for three quarters before storming home to win comfortably at AAMI Stadium.

"I think we won't be looking at the last game too much we'll just be concentrating on going out and playing footy like we did last week," he said.

Boak is one of several young players enjoying the opportunities that have come because of injuries to key players and the Power's development focus in the second half of the season.

The former Geelong Falcon has overcome groin soreness during the middle of the year and is trying to display some leadership qualities in his side's remaining games.

He said it's been a positive that so many squad members have got game time and hopes Ryan Williams will be the next player to make his debut.

"He's been playing some really good footy down at Centrals and with (Nick) Salter and Mitch Farmer coming into the side last week and playing some good footy it's a really exciting time. If Ryan can get a game in the next couple of weeks that would be fantastic for him," he said.

But he added there was still pressure on some players who know they are playing for their futures at the club.

"(It) probably plays on their mind a little bit and probably puts a bit of motivation in their head for them to go out and play some good footy," he said.
