Port Adelaide small forward Robbie Gray's four-goal performance against Essendon at AAMI Stadium has earned the 19-year-old the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination for Round 12.
Gray, Port Adelaide’s fourth selection, 55th overall, in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft from the Oakleigh Chargers, debuted in Round 10 against Hawthorn and kicked two goals the following week against Carlton.
He was one of Port's best in the club's upset win against the Bombers in skipper Warren Tredrea’s 200th match in the first week of the spilt round.
Power coach Mark Williams said Gray, who stands 184 cm or a touch over six foot on the old scale, has worked really hard on his game from the day he arrived at Alberton.
"The NAB AFL Rising Star Nomination is a culmination of that hard work," Williams said.
"Robbie has a few special attributes including great hands and a great ability to read the ball that should hold him in good stead for a long term football career."
Gray is Port Adelaide's first NAB AFL Rising Star nominee this season.
