Star forward Jonathan Brown will lead the Big V into Saturday's Hall of Fame Tribute match and take his place at centre half-forward despite 'intimidation' from his club coach, Leigh Matthews.
That's the confident prediction of Brown's Brisbane and Victorian team-mate, Luke Power.
Brown, a late withdrawal from last Saturday's clash with Geelong at Skilled Stadium with a quadriceps strain, has been under pressure from Matthews to pull out of the Hall of Fame clash so as not to compromise his season with the Lions.
Power said Brown, whose recent form has been indifferent by his own high standards, was close to being declared fit to take on the Cats, and should be right to take on the Dream Team.
"He was probably half-a-day or a day off playing against Geelong," said Power at Telstra Dome on Tuesday.
"I'm pretty sure Browny will be available and he'll play and he'll be pretty keen to put on the jumper."
"Browny's a big boy … he'll be fine for the rest of the year, he'll get through the game and he'll be fine."
Power said it was always 'happy families' in Brisbane while conceding that Matthews can be highly persuasive.
"He's a pretty intimidating character, Leigh," said Power.
"I'm sure that they'll take about it and that common sense will prevail - if Browny's right to play, Browny will play."
"They'll talk about it with qualified people, the physios and the doctors and they'll come to the right decision."
"Leigh's intimidating, but he's got a lot of common sense."
Power said it was a great honour to be selected among the 'best of the best' and an achievement that he's extremely proud of.
He said, however, that the psychological warfare in the build-up to the match had already begun, led by his Brisbane team-mate Jamie Charman who's a member of the Dream Team squad.
"I've been rooming with him all week and … he's been coming home and saying, 'Jeez, I'm gonna smash you'," Power said.
"He doesn’t tuck his elbows in much."
"If he's got the ball, you just play within the rules - you play hard, but you play fair."
Power was speaking at the announcement that the players' match payments for the Hall of Fame match - $250,000 - will be donated to three charities - $100,000 to the AFLPA Past Players Health Hardship Fund, $100,000 to the Ladder program for youth homelessness, and $50,000 to Reclink.
