CLASSIC GRAB: Port Adelaide thought it had cleared the ball from defence at the 13th minute of the fourth quarter. But Stephen Milne, running against the flight of the ball, turned at the last second and took a mark in his fingertips.
STAR MAN: Kane Cornes won the Peter Badcoe VC Medal for his efforts around the ground. He stood up in the fourth quarter with 11 possessions.
ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: The Saints surged in the third quarter and the Power were found snoozing on the last line of defence. A David Armitage set shot sailed across the goal line about two and half metres high without a defender attempting to touch it.
WHAT A GOAL!: Port opened up a handy advantage with a major 14 seconds into the second term. Brendon Lade smashed the ball to half forward from the ruck contest, Shaun Burgoyne tapped the ball to Warren Tredrea who gave the ball back with quick hands. Burgoyne continued to run at full tilt and wobbled the ball through from about 25 metres.
UNSUNG HERO: Chad Cornes went off the ground in the first quarter with a broken finger. He returned to the ground and finished with a respectable 15 possessions. Mark Williams thought his efforts would've made him a deserved medallist.
