Presti out for eight

The future of veteran Collingwood defender Simon Prestigiacomo is again in jeopardy with the 30-year-old succumbing to another foot injury.
Prestigiacomo, who needs just seven games to bring up his 200-game milestone, having debuted way back in 1996, missed 11 games due to foot problems last year and could only look on as youngsters such as Tyson Goldsack and Harry O'Brien cemented themselves as regular members of the Pies' defence in his place.
Now with the start of what is expected to be his last season just three weeks away, the Pies have confirmed that Prestigiacomo has fallen victim to more foot problems and could miss up to eight weeks.
That could result in the veteran defender being unavailable until ANZAC Day meaning he could be out of action for the first five games.
And if the Pies' new-look defence begins the 2008 season as well as it finished off 2007 when it came so close to beating eventual premiers Geelong in the preliminary final, Prestigiacomo will struggle to regain his place in the side.
The loss of Prestigiacomo comes less than week after promising youngster Brad Dick succumbed to a season-ending knee injury during a practice match against West Coast in Albany.
The Pies continue their build-up to the 2008 home-and-away season with another practice match against last year's runners-up Port Adelaide at Princes Park on Saturday.
It will be the first chance for Collingwood's Melbourne-based fans to see their team during this pre-season after having first lost to Adelaide in the NAB Cup in Dubai before venturing west last week to play the Eagles.
The Pies have named a strong squad for the match with big guns Josh Fraser, Anthony Rocca and Travis Cloke all included but veteran midfielder Brodie Holland is unlikely to play before round one as he continues his recovery from the Achilles injury that kept him out of the Pies' senior line-up for the second half of last season.
