Melbourne forward Russell Robertson could return next week to face Geelong, Demons coach Dean Bailey flagged on Friday.
Robertson will this week have his fourth hit-out for VFL side Casey Scorpions as he builds towards to his first match for the Demons since rupturing his Achilles tendon in Round 10 against St Kilda last year.
The dynamic forward kicked three goals last week for the Scorpions and was listed among his team's best players.
Bailey said he had been tempted to pick Robertson to face the Crows this Sunday.
Another encouraging game this week could see Robertson back for Round 6.
"If he trains well, pulls up well, I think he's a good chance," Bailey said.
Jack Watts, last year's No.1 draft pick, will again play for the Scorpions in the VFL reserves this week.
The Demons are aiming to step him up to senior VFL level next week.
Watts has already indicated school commitments with Brighton Grammar would take priority over the Demons this year.
