Collingwood defender Heath Shaw will have plenty to ponder over the Easter weekend after he was reported for making contact with an umpire during the second quarter of his side's loss to Geelong on Thursday night.
The Pies lost the game by 27 points to a rampant Geelong side, but a broken leg to Ben Johnson and Shaw's report for placing his hand on umpire Vozzo could make it even worse in the coming weeks.
While many of us will be at home fasting or eating Easter eggs over the weekend, Shaw will have a nervous wait to see if he receives a sanction from the match review panel for his misdemeanor.
Geelong had just received a free kick in front of goal midway through a poor second term for Collingwood and Shaw touched Vozzo on the arm in a show of frustration and the veteran umpire wasted no time in making the report.
Champion midfielder Greg Williams knows just how costly it can be to touch an umpire after he was slapped with a nine-match ban in 1997.
While Shaw's incident didn't look as bad as that one, it is sure to be frowned upon by the big wigs at AFL House.
Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse said he spoke to Shaw about the report after the game, but he didn't want to divulge any information in regard to the incident.
"I am not allowed to talk about reports, you know that," a typically blunt Malthouse said.
"You know the rules as well as I do."
While Malthouse didn't give much away in regard to Shaw's brain fade, he was more than happy to talk about how good Geelong was after quarter-time in comparison to his side.
Malthouse said his team had plenty of opportunities and the fact that they failed to make the most of them cost dearly.
"Geelong was just better than us. They are a very good football side," he said.
"Geelong playing at its absolute best and us playing at our best they will beat us. Because they are better than us."
"You have to make them pay when you win the football and we didn't make them pay."
"We came here to win and we didn't win. We made too many mistakes and let them off the hook. There was good pressure from Geelong, but we had opportunities to hurt them and didn't take the opportunities."
