There are few major selection surprises for Sunday's Round 22 matches.

As expected, Barry Hall has been left out of Sydney's final 22 after initially being named at full-forward for the clash with Hawthorn at the SCG.

Peter Everitt takes Hall's place in the key forward role while Leo Barry, Sean Dempster and Lewis Roberts Thomson are the inclusions for the Swans in place of the suspended Amon Buchanan and Luke Brennan and Hall who both have hamstring strains.

The Hawks have settled on just the one change - Ben McGlynn in for Xavier Ellis.

Josh Gibson and Jesse Smith have been called up to bolster the Kangaroos defence for the club's clash with the Western Bulldogs at Telstra Dome.

The match will be Gibson's first since he suffered bleeding on the brain in an accident at home after the Round 10 match against West Coast while Smith was a late withdrawal last week with an ankle injury.

They replace Leigh Brown and Ed Lower, though a question mark remains over the fitness of Michael Firrito who has been selected on a half-back flank.

The Bulldogs have made four changes - Chris Grant, Jarrod Harbrow, Jordan McMahon and, for his last game, Matthew Robbins are the inclusions for injured pair Jason Akermanis and Andrejs Everitt and Stephen Tiller and Farren Ray.

Matthew Bate and James McDonald return to the Melbourne line-up along with Clint Bizzell for his farewell game against Carlton at the MCG.

David Neitz (knee), Colin Sylvia (hip) and Simon Buckley are the players to make way.

Ryan Houlihan is back in the Carlton line-up after being a late withdrawal last week while Mark Austin will make his senior debut for the Blues. Brad Fisher (knee) and Jason Saddington will miss.
