Swans out for revenge

Sydney Swans midfielder Tadhg Kennelly admits his side is desperate to avenge their recent run of losses at the hands of Mick Malthouse's men when they host Collingwood at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

The Swans lost all three of their meetings with the Magpies last campaign including their season-ending loss in the Elimination Final.

A fact the Irishman admits is still a major source of disappointment.

"They seem to match up well against us," Kennelly said on Tuesday.

"They've obviously beaten us three times last year which is something that doesn't sit happily with a lot of the players."

"It's something I suppose as footballers you don't like actually losing to a team twice when you do play them twice a year but to lose three times against Collingwood last year was a bit disappointing."

Asked what his side must do to reverse the disturbing run of losses against their bitter rivals, Kennelly said: "I think against Collingwood we haven't put enough pressure on them and that's probably the thing that we've looked back in the games that we have played against them."

"We've given them too much space in midfield and given them free run out of the middle and it has put us under massive amounts of pressure in our backline."

"I think our pressure will be huge, it'll be hot footy I think on Saturday night."

"They (Collingwood) have been a bit up and down, they played a great game against Geelong only a few weeks ago so they have been playing good football, it's just been that they've been up and down."

"So we've just got to prepare and know that they're going to be a team I suppose that's ready to play."

Saturday's blockbuster signals the beginning of tough stretch for the fourth-place Swans with matches against Hawthorn, Carlton, Adelaide and the Bulldogs to follow.

But Kennelly insists his side has only one opponent in mind for now.

"We're thinking of the black and whites to tell you the truth," he said.

"It's a big game for the club and a big game for the team and like I said having lost to them three times in the last three games we're not thinking nowhere near past Collingwood on Saturday night."

"We know we've got a tough month of football ahead, we haven't played a lot of teams in the top eight but like I said we won't get too far ahead of Saturday night."
