Rob Forsaith at the Gabba
Ben Cutting's maiden first-class five-wicket haul has seen Queensland claim a comprehensive outright victory over Tasmania early on day four of the Sheffield clash at the Gabba.
The Tigers resumed at 6-209 on Wednesday, needing a further 17 runs to make the hosts bat again, but they failed to clear that hurdle due to a man of the match performance from Cutting.
Dan Marsh (49) offered temporary respite, but lacked support and he fell late in the first hour of play to hand the Bulls an innings-and-seven-run victory.
Cutting, who wreaked havoc with the second new-ball late on day three, continued to bowl at vicious pace and extract impressive bounce from what was essentially a lifeless pitch.
The 22-year-old struck in the fourth over of the day when Brett Geeves (17) feathered a catch down the leg side.
Brady Jones and Brendan Drew were then back in the stands without scoring when they lashed at wider balls from Cutting, with Lee Carseldine and Chris Simpson holding onto good catches in the slips cordon.
Cutting's three wickets in the space of 13 balls added to his deadly work on Tuesday when he picked up two wickets within the space of three balls.
Cutting, playing in his sixth Shield game, finished with 10 maidens to his name and career-best figures of 6-37.
