Marcus Wilson at Adelaide Oval
South Australia's bogey man Brad Hodge has peeled off another century and led the Bushrangers to a crushing five-wicket victory over the Redbacks in the Ford Ranger Cup match at Adelaide Oval.
Victoria scored 5-248 to reach the victory target with 7.2 overs to spare.
Hodge, who scored an effortless 114 from 113 deliveries, shared in a 125-run partnership with Andrew McDonald (58) to set up the result.
It's the second season in a row the experienced right hander has registered a ton in both the Bushrangers' Sheffield Shield and Ford Ranger Cup matches at Adelaide Oval.
Opening bowler Shaun Tait collected his best figures of the season with 3-57 while Matthew Weeks and Jake Haberfield were the other wicket takers.
South Australia also had a couple of chances to run out Hodge and McDonald but couldn't produce something special when the game was in the balance.
The Victorian duo came together with the Bushrangers at 3-86 and initially the pressure of the situation was showing.
Both were lucky to survive an aborted quick single with South Australia unsuccessfully taking a ping at both stumps in the one play.
In the 22nd over Michael Klinger had a chance to run McDonald out with an underarm throw when the all-rounder was on nine but his attempt was off target.
And if James Smith had gathered and thrown a ball cleanly at point McDonald was on his way.
Unfazed by the hiccups the experienced duo easily milked runs from the Redbacks' attack.
McDonald started to build some personal momentum and hit a straight drive for six but was eventually dismissed caught behind off Tait.
But with Hodge at the crease there were no concerns for the visitors. He cracked 15 boundaries and never looked rushed - even by the pace of Tait.
Earlier a career-best innings of 90 from Cameron Borgas guided South Australia to its competitive total. The Redbacks slumped to 5-104 midway through the innings but Borgas and the explosive Daniel Christian (45 off 37 deliveries) combined for a 94-run stand to steady the ship and steer the home side to 9-247.
Borgas started with caution but grew with confidence with the aggressive Christian proving the perfect foil. His sometimes inventive 123-ball knock featured eight boundaries and came to an end when he was caught on the long-on boundary by Rob Quiney in the 49th over.
Darren Pattinson was the pick of the bowlers with an economical 3-34 off 10 overs while Shane Harwood also collected three wickets but was pasted for 77 runs.
Damien Wright bowled well and took 1-19 off eight overs but was forced off the field with a hamstring strain he suffered fielding in the outfield.
