A 181-run second-wicket partnership between centurions Chris Rogers and Brad Hodge has put a savage Victoria in complete control of its Sheffield Shield match against South Australia at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
Victoria cracked 64 boundaries and four sixes to be 3-452 at stumps on day two, giving them a first-innings lead of 160 runs.
A tired Hodge was still swinging at the end of play and is 169 not out while Andrew McDonald (30) is the other unbeaten batsmen.
Dan Christian was the home side's workhorse taking 2-101 off 23 overs.
Rogers hit 149 off 187 balls and combined with Hodge just before lunch to blow the Redbacks away with a clean-hitting stand which ended just after tea.
It's their second sizeable partnership this calendar year with the duo putting on 244 against Queensland in March.
The former West Australian started the day in an aggressive mood and joined forces with Nick Jewell (40) for a 102-run opening stand in the morning.
He then put the foot on the accelerator after lunch, adding 80 runs to his total to be 148 at tea.
The left hander only added a single to his tally after the break before being caught by Aaron O'Brien in gully. But his 263-minute innings, featuring 22 boundaries and a six, was a beauty.
With his partner back in the sheds, it was up to Hodge to inflict more punishment on the Redbacks.
Hodge brought up his century with a straight drive off Christian and added 90 runs in the final session and overall smashed 24 boundaries and three sixes in his 221-ball stay at the crease.
It's the second season in a row the former Australian batsmen has reached triple figures in a Shield match at Adelaide Oval.
It was a scary Halloween for the Redbacks who couldn't take a trick as the opposition enjoyed the treats that come with dropped catches and a tired bowling performance.
Hodge was given a life on 54 when Daniel Harris dropped a tough chance at short mid-on while Mark Cosgrove grassed a catch in slips when Jewell was on three. The fielding errors cost the home side 152 runs
Young pace duo Peter George and Jake Haberfield didn't create too many headaches for the Bushrangers while the spinners received little respect.
A valiant Dan Christian work hard for his wickets but even his performance tailed off in the final session.
And Cosgrove, who was expected to share the load, could only manage one over in the first session after feeling tightness in his hamstring.
The Bushrangers also had the better of the Redbacks on the opening day after bowling the home side out.
South Australia did well to scrap to 292 but the total proved well below par given the ease in which Victoria made runs on day two.
