Rain has prevented play from commencing on the second day of the NSW-Western Australia Sheffield Shield encounter at the SCG.

The covers have remained on the wicket square throughout the first session, forcing umpires to call an early lunch.

At the close of play on day one, the Warriors were 5-371.

Theo Doropoulos (47) and Luke Ronchi (79) will return to the crease when plays resumes.
