Big-hitting Blues youngster David Warner has been snapped up by IPL franchise The Delhi Daredevils on a two-year deal.
The 22-year-old left-handed opener has set the Ford Ranger Cup competition alight in recent weeks blasting 165 not out and a blistering 97 from 54 balls in consecutive innings against Tasmania.
Warner, who is yet to make his first-class debut for his home state, would not comment on his lucrative contract announced on Wednesday preferring to focus his energies on breaking into the struggling Blues line-up in the longer from of the game this season.
He will join a star studded Daredevils line-up for the 2009 IPL campaign which already includes legendary paceman Glenn McGrath as well as current Indian Test openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.
In only nine domestic one-day innings Warner has amassed 416 runs at an average of just under 60 at an impressive strike rate approaching 120.
He also managed 760 runs at an average of 54 playing for Eastern Suburbs in the Sydney grade competition last season.
