MotoGP gets Hungary

A brand new circuit in Hungary is set to be added to the MotoGP championship calendar for the 2009 season.

If the new Balatonring circuit is built in time and also meets the requirements it could stage round 14 of the series in September of next year.

MotoGP rights holders Dorna have put forward the proposed new circuit, at Lake Balaton, in a provisional calendar which will see the 2009 series staged over 18 rounds, starting in Qatar in April and concluding in Spain in November.

The 2009 MotoGP provisional calendar: April 12, Losail, Qatar; April 26, Motegi, Japan; May 3, Jerez, Spain; May 17, Le Mans, France; May 31, Mugello, Italy; June 14, Catalunya, Catalunya; June 27, Assen, Holland; July 5, Laguna Seca, United States; July 19, Sachsenring, Germany; July 26, Donington, GB; August 16, Brno, Czech Republic; August 30, Indianapolis, United States; September 13, Misano, San Marino; September 20, Lake Balaton, Hungary; October 4, Estoril, Portugal October 18, Phillip Island, Australia; October 25, Sepang, Malaysia; November 8, Valencia, Spain.
