Honour awaits Farr-Jones

21/07/2008 11:49:16 AM

World Cup winning captain Nick Farr-Jones will be inducted into the prestigious Wallabies Hall of Fame during an on-field ceremony prior to Saturday's Bledisloe Cup blockbuster in Sydney.

The former Wallabies scrumhalf earned 63 Test caps after making his debut in 1984 and led his country on 36 occasions.

Speaking at ARU headquarters on Monday, Farr-Jones said his impending inclusion as the 13th member of one of the game's most exclusive clubs is among his greatest achievements.

"It's obviously a great honour for me to be included with such an illustrious group," Farr-Jones said.

"When I think of the likes of the previous inductee Sir (Edward) Weary Dunlop and what he achieved in life, not only on a rugby field but of course in his endeavours throughout his life time."

"It's a tremendous honour for me and I greatly appreciate what the Australian Rugby Union has done in honouring me in this way."

Farr-Jones joins fellow greats Ken Catchpole, Mark Loane, Sir Nicholas Shehadie, David Campese, Mark Ella, John Hipwell, John Thornett, Col Windon, Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop, Tom Lawton senior, Tom Richards and Cyril Towers in the exclusive club.
