Cats v Lions snippets
TURNING POINT: The Lions dominated the opening term but led by just 11 points at quarter-time. They had more entries inside 50 (20-7), more possessions and clearances but wasted opportunities in front of goal and paid dearly in the second half.
STAR MAN: Daniel Bradshaw was no match at all for Matthew Scarlett. The Brisbane spearhead managed just three disposals and his only goal for the game came in the first term. Scarlett, meanwhile, finished the game with 20 disposals to again underline why he is the game's premier defender.
WHAT A GOAL!: Luke Power kicked a superb goal on the run from the boundary line in the third quarter, but it was Geelong's coast-to-coast major in the opening term which made the best viewing. From Scarlett's kick-in, the Cats scurried the ball to the other with just three more touches before Tom Hawkin snapped truly from close range.
ABSOLUTE SHOCKER: Nobody was in the goal square for the Lions for Steve Johnson's set shot from 40 metres out in the third quarter. As if to mock the Lions, Johnson's shot sailed through at only waist height.
UNSUNG HERO: Joel Patfull's smother in the goal square on Darren Milburn denied the Cats what would have been a certain goal. Milburn made his situation worse when he mouthed off at the umpire and conceded a free kick to the Brisbane backman.
