Charman contests, Stevens accepts

Charman contests, Stevens accepts

02/09/2008 1:54 PM

Brisbane ruckman Jamie Charman will contest his striking charge at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night, but Nick Stevens has accepted his one-match ban and will miss Carlton's first match of 2009.

Charman was charged with a level two striking offence against Sydney's Brett Kirk for a crude elbow from behind and he was given a one-match suspension by the match review panel. He has opted to contest the charge in a bid to be available for the opening round of 2009.

But Stevens decided not to contest a striking charge against Hawthorn's Rick Ladson on Saturday night and has also accepted a $900 fine for wresting with Chance Bateman. Bateman accepted his fine of the same amount for wresting with Stevens.

Sydney's Jude Bolton has accepted a reprimand for engaging in rough conduct against Albert Proud. Bolton will carry over 70.31 points into any future charges.

And Brad Miller and Mitch Morton both accepted the $900 fines they copped for their wresting match in the game between Melbourne and Richmond.
