Jesaulenko, you beauty

Carlton legend Alex Jesaulenko has become the AFL's 22nd official legend of the game while Kevin Sheedy, Des Tuddenham, Noel Teasdale, Glen Jakovich, Garry Hocking, Gavin Brown, Geof Motley, and Tom McArthur were inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made at Thursday night's Hall of Fame dinner at the Palladium Room in Melbourne's Crown Casino.

Jesaulenko, who took arguably the most famous mark in VFL/AFL history over Graeme 'Jerker' Jenkins in the 1970 Grand Final, is a four-time premiership player, a member of both the Carlton and AFL teams of the century, a two-time all-Australian, represented Victoria 15 times and also won a best-and-fairest with the Blues.

The Carlton champion was an original member of the Hall of Fame when it was established back in 1996.

Of the eight new inductees, the names don't get much bigger than former Essendon coach and Richmond player Kevin Sheedy.

Sheedy immortalised himself in the Australian game with a 27-year coaching reign at Windy Hill which included four premierships, seven grand finals, 19 finals series and 635 games (second only to the great Collingwood coach Jock McHale).

The former Bombers coach also played 251 games with Richmond, is a three-time premiership player with the Tigers, won a best-and-fairest, played for Victoria eight times and is a member of both the Essendon and Richmond teams of the century.
