Richmond remains in touch with the top eight with a thrilling four-point victory over a fast-finishing Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.
The Tigers led by 28-points at three quarter time but let the Power back into contest by playing a slow possession game for most of the final stanza.
Port kicked the last four majors of the match and with less than a minute to play had drawn to within a goal of its opponents.
The home side got the final centre square clearance but a Shaun Burgoyne kick into the forward line was cut off by Joel Bowden. His heroic act saw them win 20.7 (127) to 19.9 (123).
It was a dramatic conclusion to a game controlled by the Tigers. They led at every change and their ability to score in bursts gave them the edge.
They kicked four goals in five minutes late in the first quarter, three goals in three minutes during the second stanza and four majors in nine minutes to open the third term.
It was a rare and important AAMI Stadium win for the Tigers who had lost 12 of their past 13 encounters at West Lakes.
South Australian Cleve Hughes and opportunist Mitch Morton combined to kick 11 goals while Shane Tuck and Nathan Foley were other busy players.
Daniel Motlop kicked six goals while Dominic Cassisi and Travis Boak collected plenty of possessions.
Richmond had the better of an entertaining and high scoring first quarter.
The Tigers were efficient in attack, were dominating the aerial contests and their big name players warmed to the task as the term progressed.
They didn't have it all their own way as Port was dangerous when they moved the ball quickly.
But the visitors finished full of confidence and lead by 17 points at the first change.
The Power worked their way back into the contest thanks mainly to the dangerous Motlop.
They hit the lead midway through the term but the visitors replied with three goals in as many minutes.
Motlop's third major for the term stop the Tigers' run but the home side still trailed by three points at the long break.
Richmond flew out of the blocks in the second half with Hughes heading a potent Tigers attack.
He kicked two majors in a decisive surge by the Tigers.
Port lifted its intensity with Motlop and Robbie Gray scoring to stay in touch with its opponent.
But Hughes slammed another two long majors to restore an imposing 28-point buffer.
Brett Ebert scored the opening major of the fourth term and the AAMI Stadium crowd found some voice.
And when Tom Logan, Travis Boak and Motlop chipped in with majors and the game was alive.
However the Tigers held onto the ball in the dying seconds to record a memorable win.
