Buddy leads the way

The greatest thing to happen to Victorian football happened on Saturday afternoon. And he came in the form of Lance Franklin.

Buddy and Luke Hodge made it happen against the Crows. It's time Adelaide booked into the old folks home. They're too old.

What happened on Sunday was an absolute slaughter. Only once have I seen so many dead kangaroos. And that was in an abattoir. The Shinboner Spirit was nowhere to be found. It was the football club's most soul-destroying defeat in many a year.

They may as well send the premiership cup down the highway to Geelong. They're too big, too strong and too good. There's no need to keep a lid on it. They are unbeatable.

Port was quite impressive against West Coast, who is now well and truly in the wars. Ben Cousins let the world see his tattoo. But such is life he did his hamstring moments later.

Another tattooed warrior in the wars is Barry Hall. He was terrible on Saturday night. It could well be the end of the Sydney era. They're tired and worn out. And their kicking is suffering. Some are even struggling to catch it or even find it. It's time to turn to youth.

And it's almost time for a Victorian premiership. This year could be the first time since 1999 two Victorian sides make the grand final. If that happens, I'll bathe in the Yarra and cry tears of joy.
