South Dragons' rejuvenation continued on Monday when it announced the arrival of NBL All Star Ebi Ere to the club on a two-year deal.
Ere's signature was more good news for the fledgling club, which has enjoyed a fruitful recruiting drive ahead of the 2008-09 campaign.
The 26-year-old former Brisbane Bullet star becomes the Dragons' fourth on-court signing during the off-season, joining fellow All-NBL first team member Mark Worthington, Mika Vukona and Adam Gibson.
The signings follow the arrival of perhaps the biggest name of all in the NBL, Brian Goorjian, who left the ill-fated Sydney Kings after the 2007-08 season.
Ere, who Goorjian said could be the 'most dynamic offensive player in the league', came second in last season's MVP voting and was the competition's second leading scorer after averaging 27 points a game for the Bullets.
"We wanted to enhance the roster and put a better team on the floor than last year's team. We've signed some quality Australians and you need a couple of guys to play around," Goorjian said.
"We've added a lot of very good defensive players and we needed to score."
"Ebi Ere's first team all league, definitely could be the most dynamic offensive player in the league. He's a great guy as well, a hard-working guy and a good player."
"We're excited about Ebi and we've got a nice team."
Currently playing for the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA summer season, Ere will arrive in Melbourne in August to meet his new team-mates.
The upcoming season will be the Dragons' third in the NBL. The club made the play-offs in its inaugural season but finished bottom last season with a win-loss record of 5-25.
