Following its thrilling last-second win over the Wildcats on Friday night, Wollongong captain Mat Campbell is looking for his team to build upon the breakthrough win.

''We're still trying to find our feet as a team, it's only early in the piece and a win like that is going to go a long way for our confidence and realise that we are a quality team in this league,'' he said.

''I've never met a group that worked harder and wanted to win as much as this group at the moment.''

''We had a lot of doubters and a lot of outside influences on the group at the moment just because we started a little slow.''

''Night in and night out we're going to have someone different do the scoring and be 'the man' for us, once everyone gets on the same page with that we're going to make some in-roads in this league.''

So far Wollongong has had three different top scorers in five games - Campbell, Glen Saville and Dusty Rychart with the noticeable absentee being last season's scoring leader Kavossy Franklin.

Franklin is yet to fire this year, averaging 8.2 points per game on 29 percent shooting and in a surprisingly rare outing he was held scoreless last round against the Wildcats.

''Kavossy still contributed in some ways out there, unfortunately he didn't score any points but at the end of the day I'm sure he'll be back and when he is back we're going to be a better team for it,'' Hawks coach Eric Cooks said.

''We're going to Perth on Wednesday with the series tied and I think if we can get that one it will go a long way towards our goal to make the playoffs, having a split on a team like Perth.''

With Franklin due for a breakout, the Hawks can improve to 3-3 with a win over the bandaged Wildcats, who have suffered a string of injuries in recent weeks.

In games between Perth and Wollongong the home team has won the past seven encounters.
