Usain Bolt refused to accept any direct comparisons between his record-breaking achievements and those of legendary American Michael Johnson.
But they may be unavoidable if Bolt, as he hinted after becoming a double-Olympic sprint champion, decides to take up the 400metres in time for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Bolt broke Johnson's 12-year-old 200m world record on Wednesday with a blistering run of 19.30seconds just five days after smashing his own 100m record.
It was an achievement Britain's Christian Malcolm described as "more shocking" than Johnson's own 200m and 400m double at the Atlanta Olympic in 1996.
Bolt, though, was reverential.
"A lot of people compare me to Michael Johnson. I try to be just me, I try to be myself," said Bolt, who turns 22 today.
"Michael Johnson revolutionised the sport. I just changed it a little bit."
But Johnson described Bolt as 'Superman II' and believes the Jamaican, with his 6ft 5in physique and giant stride, could be a "world class 400m runner".
Johnson urged Bolt to set himself new goals after re-writing the history books this week - and he may just do that.
Bolt suggested after victory last night that he would consider taking up the 400m after next season's world championships.
And the Jamaican national coach Stephen Francis indicated he may even do it in addition to competing in the 100m and 200m. That would be revolutionary.
Bolt, though, will delay any decision until he has attempted to add world titles to his two Olympic gold medals.
"A lot of people are hoping I do the 400 but don't hold your breath. I won't be going after the 400 any time soon. I am going to let it soak in that I am a double gold medalist," said Bolt.
"My next aim is to finish the season injury free and then look forward to the world championships.
"After the world championships maybe I will look forward to doing something else, I am not sure.
"Anything is possible if I put my mind to it, like I did this season."
Bolt will spend his birthday 'chilling out' before turning his attention to the 4x100m relay in an attempt to win a third Olympic gold medal.
Jamaica will have strong title claims with the two fastest men in the world on their team - Bolt and the last 100m world record holder, Asafa Powell.
"Right now, I just want to chill out," said Bolt.
"I want to be in sandals, taking a weekend. I am going to relax this week and prepare for the 4x100m.
"I know the guys are looking forward to it and I will try to refocus again to get one more gold medal."
