Alan Shiell at Adelaide Oval
Fast bowler Peter Siddle has grabbed five successive wickets, including 3-0 in five balls, to flatten South Australia's second innings for a shambolic 77 and give Victoria a 270-run victory early on day four of the Pura Cup match at Adelaide Oval.
Siddle finished with the startling figures of 5-27 off 10 overs. Leg-spinner Bryce McGain ended the match 22 minutes before lunch by having Dan Cullen (two) caught at slip by Andrew McDonald.
SA resumed at 4-27 off 18 overs and lost 6-50 off 21.5 overs. The 77 was SA's lowest Sheffield Shield/Pura Cup total against Victoria at Adelaide Oval, eclipsing by one run the 78 scored in 1961-62.
Siddle struck initially with the second, fourth and sixth balls of the seventh over of the day - his first.
He had Matthew Elliott (10) caught at second slip by David Hussey, hit the middle stump of Nathan Adcock (0) and also had Graham Manou (0) caught by Hussey - and the Redbacks were 7-35.
Nightwatchman Jason Gillespie, who resumed on one, and Cullen Bailey added 29 off 59 balls before Siddle bowled Gillespie - middle stump again - in the day's 17th over.
Gillespie's patience and application had again embarrassed his higher-order batsmen, for he had stayed for 63 balls while compiling 14 after having also top-scored with 49 off 104 balls in the first innings.
Two overs after Gillespie's departure, Siddle pinned Ryan Harris (eight) and McGain completed the rout three overs later by removing Cullen and leaving Bailey unbeaten on 17 (off 41 balls).
