"Obviously a split in world cricket is not what anyone wants to see and it's what we need to try and avoid at all costs," Mills said.

"However, we shouldn't ever be compromising players safety and whilst I appreciate there are always commercial considerations to take into account, and I understand the various politics of the international cricket community, at the end of the day we won't compromise player safety."
