Adelaide striker Bruce Djite has overcome a hamstring complaint and will take his place in the Reds' travelling squad for the crucial AFC Champions League match with Chinese outfit Changchun Yatai on Wednesday.
Djite, who had his wish of being released from his current contract with United granted on Wednesday, was given the all-clear by Adelaide's medical staff on Thursday after he completed training without a hitch.
"It felt pretty good. The sprint test and the kicking went pretty well and I am ready to go," Djite said.
However, Djite remains extremely cautious in the lead-up to the huge encounter with Chancgchun in China as he is aware of how easily he sustained the injury in the first place.
"I am a bit nervous and a bit tentative because when I did it initially I felt fine and then with one kick you're out for two months," Djite explained.
"It feels about 95 percent so I don't want to go gun-ho on one kick and then go back another two months."
Djite has been signed up by an as-yet-unknown European club but the 21-year-old insists that, for now, all his energies will be put into the Reds' bid to become the first Australian team to progress through to the knockout phase of the AFC Champions league.
"I really want to help the team in what is one of the most important games in the club's history and I would more than love to play a part in it," Djite said.
"There is a really good feeling among the group and I definitely think we can make it to the next stage."
Djite's inclusion into the side couldn't have come at a better time for Adelaide with fellow striker Dez Giraldi pulling out with a hamstring injury.
United coach Aurelio Vidmar confirmed that both Djite and marquee player Paul Agostino will start the match on the bench.
The Reds need either a draw or a win against Changchun to go past the preliminary stage of the AFC Champions League.
