European Tour keeps name

European Tour keeps name

03/07/2008 9:21 AM

After four years of taking opinions from around the world the European Tour has decided to keep its name.

World Tour, Global Tour and European International Tour had all been discussed, but instead the circuit has decided to re-style its branding for next season's start of the 'Race To Dubai', the new-look Order of Merit.

Every year Europe's No.1 lifts the Harry Vardon Trophy and Vardon, winner of the Open a record six times between 1896 and 1914, is the figure depicted in the Tour's new logo.

The tour currently visits 26 countries and has members from 46 nations, but chief executive George O'Grady said that 'World Tour' had been deemed too grand because 'we are not America'.
