Woods sets return date

Woods sets return date

Tiger Woods is on course to be fit to play in the US Open after surgery on his left knee.

He has only chipped and putted so far but the world No.1 is targeting a return to action at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio, starting May 29.

And he expects to be fully ready for the second major of the year between June 12 and 15 at Torrey Pines.

"The rehab is going well. I've been training hard," Woods told CNN.

"I'm getting sick and tired of riding the bike, though. That gets old fast."

"I'm chipping and putting. I'm not doing anything beyond that. Hopefully I'll start hitting balls, start progressing soon and work my way up the bag."

After three operations on the same knee, Woods has tried to adjust his swing to alleviate the stress on his legs.

"It has gotten better and hopefully it will continue to get better," he said.
