Augusta Proud's Magic victory

Augusta Proud has created history with a thrilling win in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast on Easter Monday.

The Adelaide juvenile became the first South Australian bred horse to win the classic while jockey Clare Lindrop also became the first female rider to win the $1.5 million event.

It was the filly's second juvenile classic victory after her recent success in the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic event at Morphettville.

The Leon-MacDonald trained horse sat off the pace before storming home to beat She's Meaner, who had looked the likely winner down the straight, by a head.

Local hope High Roll'n Woman, ridden by Glenn Colless, finished in third position two lengths behind.

Owners are now considering paying a late to enter August Proud in the highly lucrative $3.5 million Golden Slipper event at Rosehill.
