One of Australia's leading jockeys Darren Beadman is expected to miss the remainder of the Melbourne Spring Carnival after being thrown off a horse before a race in Hong Kong at the weekend.
Beadman said he was 'tossed like a rag doll' from his mount Johnson during a pre-race parade at Sha Tin.
He was rushed to the Prince of Wales Hospital and was later diagnosed with a cracked S3 vertebra that will sideline him for up to a month.
Beadman did have the ride on Tuesday Joy in the Melbourne Cup before she was scratched after suffering bleeding from both nostrils after the Turnbull Stakes last weekend.
The jockey has since been tipped to ride the John Hawkes-trained Fiumicino in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
