Doncaster winner anyone's guess

Doncaster winner anyone's guess

21/04/2008 7:02 PM

Weekend Hussler's likely absence from Saturday's Doncaster Handicap has thrown betting for the feature mile wide open.

Forensics, last year's Golden Slipper winner, was the $5 favourite on Betfair's antepost market ahead of Hot Danish on $7, and Snipers Bullet, Serious Speed, Casino Prince and Eskimo Queen on $11.

Eskimo Queen was a $50 outsider prior to defeating Hot Danish in the Group One Coolmore Classic at Rosehill on Saturday.

"That's a big gamble from 50s to 12s," Betfair's Hugh Taggart said.

Weekend Hussler had been as short as $3.50 with Betfair prior to trainer Ross McDonald's decision to bypass the Doncaster with his superstar three-year-old.

Other betting agencies have already taken Weekend Hussler off their boards, including TAB Sportsbet, which has posted Forensics a $4.80 favourite.
